Accessibility statement

Our commitment to an accessible conference website (EAA · EN 301 549 · WCAG 2.1 AA)

Conformance status

Partially conformant — targeting full WCAG 2.1 AA. "Partially conformant" means some content does not yet fully conform; remediation is in progress.

Standard: EN 301 549 (WCAG 2.1 level AA) · Applies to: this website and all sub-pages · Method: self-assessment plus automated and manual testing.

Standard applied

This website is designed to meet the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882) as implemented through the harmonised European standard EN 301 549, which incorporates the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA.

What we have done

  • Structure & landmarks — semantic HTML with banner, navigation, main and contentinfo regions, and a logical heading order.
  • Keyboard access — every interactive element is reachable and operable by keyboard, with a visible focus indicator and a "skip to main content" link.
  • Colour contrast — text meets the 4.5:1 ratio (3:1 for large text and interface components).
  • Text alternatives — meaningful images have descriptive alt text; decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology.
  • Names, roles & states — menus, accordions and the chatbot expose correct ARIA roles and states.
  • Motion & resizing — animation respects prefers-reduced-motion; layouts reflow and remain usable at 200% zoom and on small screens.

Known limitations

  • Registration is handled by an external platform (EventMatic) which may not yet fully conform; contact us if you need assistance registering.

Feedback & contact

If you encounter a barrier or need information in an alternative format, please contact the organisers — we aim to respond within 5 working days. You can also ask Chatbot REMI, available on every page.
